Having passed his grade 8 in classical
guitar at the tender age of twelve Iain was ‘Reddy’ to move
on. Throughout his teenage years he experimented with different types
of music, and was inspired by everyone from Maxim Vengrov to Django Rheinhart.
Whilst remaining open minded about music, Iain was especially drawn to
the world of ‘Rockabilly’. He was heavily influenced by bands
such as the ‘Stray Cats’ and ‘Blue Nile’, and
later went on to form the band ‘How Sweet it Is’. Having
heard Dobro player Jerry Douglas on the ‘Trans Atlantic Sessions’ series,
Iain found a love for Bluegrass and spent the next few years mastering
the art of flatpicking. Iain then co-formed the highly acclaimed band ‘Blue
Field’, which gained airplay in the UK and in the USA. He feels
that Doghouse Central is the perfect project to express his musical ideas
and perform his compositions. Whilst having so many of the elements and
sounds that he grew up listening to, it also allows for some fresh creativity.
