Russ is one of the UK’s finest double bass players, and his musical career to date has crossed many musical genres. In the 90’s he played electric bass in the well renowned band ‘The Nice Party’. Russ first heard slap double bass for the first time after a friend played him some ‘Texas Juke Joint Swing’ from a Wayne Hancock cd, and decided that it was for him. Since mastering the technique he has never looked back or played electric bass since. Over the years Russ has wowed audiences with his energetic playing, authentic vocals, sheer enthusiasm and stage presence. He has played and sung in such bands as ‘The Southgators’ and popular bluegrass band ‘Bakers Fabulous Boys’. Russ is also well known for his late night, fire side picking sessions and can be heard at many a festival singing and slapping bass well into the early hours.  Russ has also influenced many other up and coming bass players over the years and has taught at workshops up and down the country.
